Bolfracks House & Gardens

Bolfracks House & Gardens

As guests approach Bolfracks House & Gardens on the River Tay and outskirts of Aberfeldy, close to Loch Tay, they will be struck by its grandeur and beauty. The house is surrounded by stunning gardens that are meticulously maintained and offer breath taking views of the surrounding countryside.

Forty acres of glorious gardens and grounds surrounded by breath taking views, this property and its surroundings are a real treat.  Offering 7 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms, Bolfracks is a wonderful new addition to Scotland’s exclusive use rental market.

Accommodation

Inside the house, guests will find themselves transported to another time. The period details, such as the wood panelling, antique furnishings, and ornate fireplaces, create an atmosphere of luxury and elegance. However, modern amenities have been added to ensure that guests have everything they need for a comfortable and enjoyable stay. The house features a fully equipped kitchen, spacious living areas, games room and comfortable bedrooms.

Gardens

What makes this property stand out is the very special gardens, which are an oasis of peace and colour with an impressive collection of rare and unusual plants all with excellent views over the Tay valley.  The ornamental garden originated from the mid-18th century.   Most of what can be seen today originates from 1970’s and is the work of the late Mr J Douglas Hutchison.

The stream garden was planned and constructed by Ian Lawrie of Dundee in 1928 along the course of the Bolfracks Burn. It was restored and replanted from 1983-85.  A collection of rare and unusual plants, including a superb collection of rhododendrons, azaleas, acers, old fashioned roses and an array of herbaceous perennials.

For special occasion groups staying at Bolfracks the beautiful gardens simply complement a wonderful experience not to mention your own private tennis court.

History

The history of Bolfracks House dates to the 17th and 18th centuries, when it was owned by the Menzies family. The estate was later sold in the late 18th century to become part of the Taymouth Castle Estate.   In 2020, Athel and Annie Price sold their beloved estate to Davide Fregonese and Ivana Todoric, who fell in love with it at first sight during a brief visit in the summer of that year. The couple is dedicated to preserving the garden as per the original designs of Douglas Hutchison. They have also made some updates to the house, such as adding modern amenities while still preserving its historic character.

Overall, Bolfracks House is a truly special place that offers a unique blend of history, luxury, and natural beauty. Whether you are looking for a relaxing getaway or a place to host a special event, this estate is sure to exceed your expectations.

We work with many wonderful local suppliers to create bespoke experiences for our guests to sample some of the best our area of Scotland has to offer.
